Introduction to the event:  

Bharat Tex Expo Is a large-scale mega textile expo in Delhi meticulously designed to position India as a global powerhouse in textiles.

Simultaneously held at two of the largest exhibition centers of India, Bharat Mandapam and YashoBhoomi, New Delhi it offers a wide range of demonstrations by master craftsmen, followed by trend forecasts, product launches and much more.

Honorable Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modi

Inaugurated by the Honorable Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modi, he addresses the gathering of more than 6000, including exhibitors, traders, industrialists, buyers, students and many more.

Learnings : 

- The Prime Minister mentions that cultivating over 3,000 exhibitors from 100 countries and about 40,000 visitors at Bharat Tex was a significant milestone, because a platform like this is much needed for the textile industry. 

- He viewed the event as a significant stride that unites India’s ancient textile legacy with modern technology, sustainability and the nations textile traditions display a whole range of sources nationwide.

- Addressing the challenges and aspirations of stakeholders in the textile value chain, including weavers, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the resolve of 'Viksit Bharat', a developed India and and highlighted that India’s textile sector is connected to its four pillars: namely the poor, youth, farmers and women. 

- He stated that the introduction of Kasturi Cotton by the government will significantly enhance India's global brand recognition.
He also brought up the National Technical Textiles Mission and the PM MITRA Parks initiatives that are meant to enhance the growth of the textile sector and its employment opportunities.

- Besides, the Prime Minister pointed out that women are the driving force of the textile industry, with seven women among ten tailors and a bigger number of them in handloom work. 

- He explained the role of welfare schemes and infrastructure development in the textile sector.

- Focusing on 'Skill' along with 'Scale', the Prime Minister refers to the wide network of The National Institute of Fashion  Technology(NIFT), establishing its nineteen institutes all over India. The institute encourages connecting the youth to weavers and artisans by organizing timely programs and events. 

Union Minister of Textiles, Shri Piyush Goyal

The event proceeds with an insightful speech by the Union Minister of Textiles, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal.

Learnings : 

- Introduction to the Honorable  Prime Minister's 5f Vision. Farmer to fiber, fiber to factory, factory to fashion and fashion to foreign. An initiative to get the entire value chain on the same stage.

- Shri Goyal emphasized the need to strengthen local supply chains and focus on skill, speed, and scale to achieve the vision of a developed India. 

- He highlighted the expo's role in showcasing the global textile industry's value chain, reinforcing India's position as a textile powerhouse and an attractive investment and sourcing destination. 

- He praised the Prime Minister's 'vocal for local' and 'local for global' initiatives, and the government's support through various schemes like PM MITRA, Samarth, and National Technical Textiles Mission. Shri Goyal also mentioned the formation of a new textile advisory group to enhance connectivity in the cotton and man-made fiber industry. 

- He noted the rise in consumption, especially among the aspirational young India, due to the government's efforts in controlling food inflation, which presents an opportunity for the textile industry.

Concluding, Bharat Tex Expo serves as a platform to showcase India's textile prowess and its potential to become a leader in the global textile market
